1. Please download this copy of the novel. You may do your own search, if you want, and find a different version of the text; however, make sure that it is the original version, and not the censored one.
This is a free audio version of the novel. This will not replace reading of the text, but is a nice supplement for those who comprehend better when listening (auditory learners):
2. To really understand the text, you must interact with it. To help you with this task, you will need to utilize a dialectical journal. Complete this journal each time you read your assigned chapters.
I will collect and evaluate your journals occasionally, and they will become instrumental in your group discussions.
3. We will be having regular discussion over the assigned chapters-check your calendar for specific dates. Please review the rules, expectations and the grading rubric for Socratic Seminar/Class Discussion before our first meeting:

Your daily reading assignments are given to you as a pacing guide. If you fall behind on reading, make sure you catch up in time for the Large Group discussion.
Read chapters 1-2, complete dialectical journal.
Must be ready for discussion 1 on Wednesday, May 14 -chapters 1-18, discussion questions, dialectical journals.
Prepare for discussion 1 (chapters 1-18). Must have discussion questions and dialectical journals completed and turned in for evaluation.
Discussion of chapters 1-18 was rescheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, 05/15.
Continue to read the novel/complete dialectical journal/work on discussion questions for chapters 19-31. Discussion of 19-31 will take place on Tuesday, 05/20.
Prepare for discussion 2 (chapters 19-31) on Tuesday, 05/20/14. Must have discussion questions and dialectical journals completed
Finish reading the novel. Prepare for the final discussion on Friday: dialectical journals, discussion questions for ch. 32-43, final discussion questions.
Friday, 05/23/14: Review for the final test on Tuesday.
