1. To really understand the text, you must interact with it. To help you with this task, you will need to use a dialectical journal. Complete this journal each time you read your assigned chapters.
I will collect and evaluate your journals occasionally, and they will become instrumental in your group discussions.
2. We will be having regular discussion over the assigned chapters-check your calendar for specific dates. Please review the rules, expectations and the grading rubric for Socratic Seminar/Class Discussion before our first meeting:

Your daily reading assignments are given to you as a pacing guide. If you fall behind on reading, make sure you catch up in time for the Large Group discussion.
Read chapter 1, complete dialectical journal.
Must be ready for discussion 1 on Tuesday, May 13 -chapters 1-6, discussion questions, dialectical journals.
Be ready for discussion 1 tomorrow.
Our next discussion is on Monday, 05/19 of chapters 7-17.
Our final discussion will be held on Thursday, 5/22/14. Make sure to complete discussion questions/dialectical journals for chapters 18-20 and prepare for the final discussion.
Friday, 05/23/14: Review for the final test on Tuesday.
